Kunozan Toshogu Shrine

As indicated in his will, Lord Tokugawa Ieyasu's remains were buried at Kunozan and a splendid shrine was built in his honor. The "gongen" style building techniques are highly remarkable and a number of the brilliantly lacquered buildings are designated national cultural treasures.
