One of Japan’s most scenic spots. It has been selected as one of the top 100 sightseeing spots in the country. At a height of 307 meters, this hilly area is designated as a National Nature Park, where you can enjoy a rich variety of natural products such as plums, cherry blossoms, tea gardens and “mikan” tangerine fields. From the ropeway to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Byobudani cliff on the direction of the Pacific Ocean with each season.

Access Ride the Shizuoka-Nihondaira-sen bus from JR Shizuoka Station for 35 minutes and get off at the Nihondaira bus stop. (12 km)

The shrine houses the grave of Tokugawa Ieyasu. The shrine, based on the style of Shinto shrine architecture, is nationally designated as an important cultural asset.

This museum has about 2,000 arms and old documents of Tokugawa generals. There are also such articles as a Spanish clock, which was a gift from the King of Spain.

About 800 animals of 190 species, such as lesser pandas, are kept at this zoo. The 390 meter roller slider is also very popular.

Designated as special remnants of the agricultural culture of the late Yayoi Period (1800 years ago).Rice field remnants and forest remnants have also been excavated. There is a part cannot be visited as it is under construction.

On exhibit are the “Katae-zome” stencil dyeing works of Living National Treasure color dye craftsman Keisuke Serizawa (1895-1984), as well as crafts that Master Serizawa collected from all over the world.

The home of soccer team Shimizu S-Pulse stands proudly on the side of Nihondaira. The cheers of the orange-clad fans filling the stands are the most impressive in the J-League.
